Gedye/Gaylord Road Trip Part VI (sans the Gaylords):
Anzac Weekend in Melbourne
April 2004

Why is it that Sydney-siders knock the Melbourne weather?
The view from our hotel Friday night as we waited for a taxi to take us to
St Kilda.

Chris' birthday dinner. The waves pounded the St. Kilda beach outside, and
rain lashed the windows. This is autumn?

Saturday we visited the National Gallery of Victoria. The Australian
Impressionists collection was especially impressive.

Sunday was Anzac Day and we watched a fair bit of the parade. Beside the
Flinders Street Station we came upon Dad's old company from WW2, the RAAF
Wireless Unit.
Then on to the NGV International. I remembered the "water window" from my
childhood.
Inspired by the water, I took a "ghost photo" of Grace, and followed it up
with one of myself on the stairs of the Grand Hotel where we stayed.
And that was the end of our longest road trip in Australia so far, and the best yet.
